My grandpa is here guys! Yay! Now it can really begin to feel like Christmas! I don't know what it is about my grandpa's presence during the holidays that always makes Christmas feel Christmas-ier, but I think I should probably just start calling him St. Nick. ;) Anyway, as I'm sure anybody who lives in a climate where it snows profusely knows, there is a point during the winter months that we all reach. A point when we no longer give a rats fart if our hands are dry, our lips are crackled, or if the boogies from our runny noses are frozen to our faces. Oh, our boots have those weird white snow stains all over them? Who cares. We look like marshmallows all puffed up in our fifty layers? Who cares. Our butt bones might be permanently broken from slipping on black ice? Who cares. Our butt bones have developed an extra layer of thickness over the years anyway. We have given up on wearing anything resembling a cute shoe because the slush will just stain and ruin them and we'll probably slip on some more slush in them anyway? Who cares. There is a permanent wet dog/dirty sock smell permeating through the air? Who. Cares. I usually don't reach my "who cares" attitude at least until mid January but I'm sensing it's coming on a whole lot quicker this year. Oh snow, why can't you just stay pretty, white, and untouched? Why must you freeze into ice or turn into slush that resembles a baby's diaper full of a soft two?
WHYYYYY???
Anyway, I decided to go with a hippie-esque look today, because, um, hippies exist in the winter too you guys. ;) Really, though, I just love the feel of a maxi skirt in the winter. Oh, and I just came up with the most brilliant beyond brilliant idea for wearing maxis in the winter without freezing your legs! Ready for this mind blowing idea?! Wear leggings.
Underneath them. Eh? EH?? Brilliant right? You can just call me Einstein. ;) Anyway, I love mixing florals with faux fur so I figured this vest would be a great match, not to mention that it keeps me so toasty that I don't need to lug around a big coat. Oh, and what hippie look would be complete without a little turquoise?
Well, that's all I've got for you today dearies.
Much love!
Grandparents always make the holidays better! I love this skirt on you, it's perfect!

Basically I wear leggings underneath everything these days. Even pants. It's been in the teens all week and at this point I've definitely reached the "I don't care" stage of winter because I feel like I'm going to freeze to death!
ReplyDeleteHaha, thank heavens for leggings right? :) Amen, who cares!
