Best Of...

Hello my dudes. Last year near the end of the year I did a little "Chart Toppers" post about my top five favorite books and movies of the year. I thought I'd do it again since I just love books and movies so dang much and I love sharing the movies and books I've loved with other people. :)

TOP FIVE BEST READS OF 2013
       -In No Particular Order-

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)

I luuuuurved this book SO much guys. It's the first time I read an "intentionally" humorous book (I'm more of a sci-fi/fantasy/romance type). I'm not usually one to seek out comedy but this book, this book, was pure all around gold. It was funny in a pee your pants relatable way, not in that lame-o slapstick type of way. Go read it ASAP. I mean, just read this quote from the book, "Is this one of those guide books celebrities write for girls? Oh hell no. I'm only marginally qualified to be giving advice at all. My body mass index is not ideal. I frequently use my debit card to buy things that cost less than three dollars because I never have cash on me, and my room is so untidy it looks like vandals ransacked the Anthropologie Sale section...you should know I disagree with a lot of traditional advice. For instance, they say that the best revenge is living well. I say it's acid in the face -who will love them now? Another saying is that revenge is a dish best served cold. But it feels best served piping hot straight out of the oven of outrage." If that doesn't have you rolling around laughing and dieing to go out and get this book for yourself than I don't know what will. Perhaps, this line from the book will convince you, "Sometimes you just have to put on lip gloss and pretend to be psyched." I mean, who here doesn't relate to that? If you don't, than you must not be a human female. ;)

The Silver Linings Playbook

This was probably my number one favorite read of 2013. It was touching, moving, sincere, romantic, thought provoking and just all around incredible. It is even perhaps one of the most beautiful books I've ever read. It's just a beautifully written tale of a man who lost his way in life and is just sincerely trying to find a silver lining in the way his life has turned out. Throughout his journey to become the best version of himself he gets to know, befriends, and eventually falls in love with a girl who was also down on her luck. One of the main character's biggest challenges is having to live with Bipolar disorder. Someone very close to me suffers from the same disorder and I honestly thought I understood him and his struggles perfectly, but after reading this book I realized how wrong I was. Nobody really gets it unless they're the one struggling with it, and all the rest of us can do is try to be a little more understanding and just love them despite their struggles. Beautiful read.

The 5th Wave

Did I mention I'm a sci-fi fan? I'm a sci-fi fan. This book was a totally thrilling action packed read. There were even points when I was down right scuuuured. That's right. Not scared, SCURED. On top of being a thrilling mysterious read there was a little romance thrown in there too. ;)

An Abundance of Katherines

This book was funny, romantic, and quirky. It was a fun and frankly, cute read. I mean, this is John Green we're talking about, though. The man can do no literary wrong. This book was actually riddled with funny little footnotes that explained random little funny things about the characters and the story line. It was great. Just one of those books that makes you want to go out and have a completely random adventure just for the heck of it. Plus, the main character's take on dating is just down right hilarious and surprisingly accurate.

Eleanor & Park

Sigh...Eleanor and Park. Eleanor and Park.  This book is right up there with The Silver Lining's Playbook. It's just one of those books that are so real and just make you feel. It was just...I don't know. I can't even explain how good it was. It was funny, dreamy, sincere, heart wrenching, and just raw

TOP FIVE BEST MOVIES OF 2013

There were SO many movies that I loved in 2013. I'm a major movie addict so I pretty much see a movie every weekend and I love pretty much all of them. No joke. There's one that just completely took the cake, though, and I loved it so much I don't even really feel like mentioning any other movie.

I know this one technically came out late 2012 but I didn't see it till last year, and I was obsessed. It's endearing, heart warming, and just down right hilarious. I've seen it a thousand times already and even, though, it doesn't follow the book 100% I still completely love it! Jennifer Lawrence is amazing in it, and this is the film that got rid of my secret and irrational hatred of Bradley Cooper. Now, don't shoot me. I know Bradley Cooper is basically the babe to end all babes, but once upon a time he was in this little horrible movie called "He's Just Not That Into You" in which he portrayed this pig of a cheater husband. I hated him. I knew he wasn't really that way but I just couldn't get over it. Anyway, this movie got me over my craziness and it was just completely amazing!

Much love!
