Like Cookies & Pickles

Sooo, I went to the dentist last week for a cleaning. I know this is so gross to admit, but I honestly hadn't gone in to see a dentist for a cleaning, much less anything else, in a while. Life just got so crazy and stressful shortly after I graduated high school (four years ago) and going to the dentist just sort of fell to the back burner. Anyway, I went into the cleaning totally dreading it. I mean, who likes going into the dentist (Sorry Alisha)? I mean, I certainly never have. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was that demon child that the dentist dreaded having to help. I'm pretty sure in his spare time he referred to me as the spawn of Satan and likely still has nightmares about me to this day. ;) Me and dentists have just never mixed. It's like pickles and cookies. Polar opposites. I would be the cookies in that equation, of course. ;) Anyway, I was just the kind of kid that would tear his hand right out of my mouth at the first sign of discomfort. Even if all he was doing was spraying ice cold water in my mouth. I know, pretty awful. I just have a low tolerance for mouth pain. Any other kind of pain, though? I'm boss at handling. I have literally had one of my internal organs explode on me and not even batted an eyelash. But spray cold water on my teeth? I flip out. Oh, and of course I forgot to bring my earphones so I could avoid having to hear that stomach curdling scraping. Yick. Which, funny story about that, actually. When the scraping started, my stomach literally started curdling. The second the sweet hygienist that was doing my cleaning started the scraping I literally almost threw up on her hand. I don't know what it was, but something about that sound just made me so disgustingly nauseous. I had to fight so hard not to send chunks of my breakfast, a green smoothie, flying everywhere. And yes, you all totally needed that mental image. ;)

Gross dentist stories aside, though, I am totally in loooove with this dress! It's so light, airy, and totally perfect for this vomitrocious heat! Not to mention that floral pattern is to DIE for. Little secret? It's actually a maternity dress. I know, I know, super weird of me to go out and buy a maternity dress but as I was looking through ASOS' summer sale dresses I spotted it and fell so much in love with it I decided to get it anyway. I got it in their smallest size possible hoping the fit wouldn't be too big. The waist is still pretty loose, for obvious reasons (I'm not pregnant), but throw on a belt and problem solved! Also, these cute little F21 accessories and tiny powder blue Aldo's bag are so darling! I was going for a girly light summer look and I fee like the accessories totally tied that look together for me!

Much love!

Hangry

I'm so excited to share these photos with you all today! One of my best friends recently got herself a brand new camera and lens and on Saturday we got to play around with it and shoot a few looks! It was so fun! Also, she's just so skilled! I mean, how cool do these look? Girl's got talent. Holla! ;) The only thing is, we were actually approached by a couple of weirdos while we were shooting...talk about creepy. Who knew the courthouse was the official hang spot of McCreepers? Go figure. Shortly thereafter we changed locations, though, just to be on the safe side! Anyway, be sure to stop by my girl's site (here) and show her some love!!! And, gosh, you guys, I had something completely different in mind to post about today, but I'm currently sitting in my room waiting for rolls to rise so that I can eat dinner, and all I can think about is how hungry for dinner I am, which, in turn is making me irrationally angry. And we all know what happens when hunger mixes with anger, you get HANGRY and hangry is not a good mood to be in. Also, I've come to the realization that I'm hangry quite often. At least three times a week in fact. Let me just say, I am not a pretty person to be around when I'm hangry. I start crying irrationally, wanting to pummel strangers, punch who ever is unfortunate enough to be with me, yelling random bits of rudeness to the public in general, and finally just wanting to curl up into a ball and sleep. Anyone know what I'm talking about here? I know I'm not the only one out there who has experienced hanger before. Tell me, what are you all like when you're hangry? I know through this commercial (which, coincidentally, I think is pure genius) that when Tina Fey is hangry, anything in reach suddenly becomes edible. ;)

Now that I've gotten my hanger off my chest (and hopefully out of my belly once those stupid rolls decide to rise) lets talk outfit! First, I'm so so so in love with dual toned looks! I love the idea of wearing only two colors exclusively, in this case white and blue! Also, I love the juxtaposition of pairing something as relaxed as light wash baggy shorts with something as structured as a blazer. SO fun! Now, notice that gorgeous beyond gorgeous bracelet on my corpse wrist (my sister frequently tells me I have the hands and wrists of death)? A lovely lil' jewelery brand, Whiting and Davis, sent it to me. Now, I just have to give you all some quick background on Whiting and Davis because their back story is seriously the best! Whiting & Davis was established in 1876 as fine silversmiths and since, has become the world-renowned for their metal mesh in the fashion jewelry and handbag industries. AND, AND, as if they couldn't get any cooler, they're the brand behind some of the most iconic jewelry trends of the 1920's! EEP! How cool, right? The 20s are seriously one of my favorite fashion eras! Not to mention, that this little baby feels liquid smooth, and that's something that I'm a huge fan of, especially with my freaky corpse sized wrists! There never seems to be a bracelet that fits my wrists well, so they're constantly sliding up and down my wrist, which gives me pretty bad rashes at the end of the day but that is SO not a problem with this baby. Even., though, it's textured it's so liquid smooth that my skin never gets irritated from it's movement! Seriously in love with this bracelet peeps! Oh, and lucky for you all, I'm going to be teaming up with Whiting & Davis in the next week or so to give away one of their lovely Marion bracelets, similar to the one I'm wearing above so stay tuned for a chance to win one of your own!

Much love!

Cozy as a Posie

This weekend was marvelous, loves. And forgive me for calling you all loves but I'm currently watching Notting Hill, so, obviously I have to start pretending I'm a posh young bird who endearingly calls her readers "loves". Moving on, as I mentioned on Friday, General Conference took place over the weekend (click here for more info). It was simply marvelous. It never ceases to astound me how on par every talk is with what I need to hear. This year the fam bam and I just stayed in to watch it on TV, rather than go down to the conference center. It was really nice to be able spend two days with the sibs and 'rents. There it is. My pretend British accent is gone and my annoying (and slightly U.S.) habit of shortening words that don't really need to be shortened comes out. ;) Guess I'm not a posh bird after all.

There was a time in my life (ages 15-18) when I wouldn't have been caught dead wearing sweats. Not even to bed. I was completely nuts. Seriously. I didn't know what I was missing out on. They're like pillows for your legs! YUM! Admittedly, they're not very flattering unless you're 5'10, but whatever, I wanted to be cozy for conference weekend and so I was. ;) Also, what's more fun than sweats in a soft mint color? Close to nothing. Plus, I obsessively wear this cozy knit scarf my sister made me for Christmas. No joke, I wear it least twice a week. Tis the best. It's like wearing a blanket on my neck. Sensing a theme here? Pillows on my legs, a blanket on my neck, I basically want to be a walking bed. ;) Oh, and in case you all didn't know, it's Monday. Pooey. Monday's are so repulsive. Bleh. :/ I hope you all have a bearable Monday! :) Oh, and just to finish up with Notting Hill quote,

Hugh Grant: "Do you actually have a stunt bottom?"
Julia Roberts: "No, but I could have a stunt bottom."

Much love!

Goo Goo

With all of the hub ub that went on last week I don't think I ever really got a chance to thank you all for your lovely birthday wishes! You guys are seriously the bestest! In fact, you're all so great the use of non-words like "bestest" becomes absolutely necessary. ;) I was seriously spoiled. I have the best friends, family, and readers a girl could ask for! I think my sister took home the cake, though, present wise. She got me...now, get ready for this because it's huge...GOO GOO DOLLS CONCERT TICKETS!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!! I don't know if I've ever mentioned that The Goo Goo Dolls are one of my top five favorite bands, but they are. They're on my "See in Concert Before I (Or They) Die" list. I've been pretty much obsessing over them, particularly their song "Name", since I was four. Now, the concert isn't actually till July, but I'm pretty much going to be squealing the entire time till then. I will also be taking every precaution to make absolutely sure that I don't die before July 17. After that, well, if I die I'd die happy. Well, semi. I still need to see U2, and Mana before that can happen, #crazyfangirlstatus. ;) Also, I didn't want the Spring blooms to sneak up on me this year, so I've been keeping a close eye on EVERY. SINGLE. TREE. on my block. Well, more like every tree I see on the regular. I feel like every Spring I go to sleep one night, with not a bloom in sight, and wake up the next day to trees full of flowers. That's why this year I'm watching those tree's every move. ;) Nothing's getting by me. In fact, I can already see teeny tiny little buds on most trees, so I predict we'll be getting some nice Spring blooms any day now.

Now, you know one of the best parts about birthdays? Well, I mean besides all the sweet yummies, obviously. It's the presents. The presents, the presents! We all know it. ;) Anyway this purse was a prezzy. Is it ok if I make that a thing? Can we all just start saying prezzy as a shortened version of present? No? Totally lame? It's ok. I understand. ;) Anyway, how awesome is the purse? I'm totally and completely in love with it!!! The color, the size, the shape! Best prezzy ever. ;) It's the perfect subtle Spring accessory. This bird/floral printed scarf is pretty great too. I got it ages ago at h&m but I'm never short of an opportunity to wear it. Also, I know I wear my London tee alllll the time, but I just think a classic black and white graphic tee is so versatile. It really is a closet must. These flats were also an early birthday gift and I've pretty much been wearing them everyday since I got them. Their shape is awesome and I love that they aren't like traditional flats that cover all of your feet, the little peek a boo sides are great.

Much love!
