Not to Toot my own Horn

Somedays you just gotta celebrate because even, though, peeps be givin' ya major side eye because your outfit is weird, ya hurrs look bomb and you feel sassy in your overalls and purple rain boots! Seriously, the day I shot this look with the amazing Ashley my hair was looking uncommonly good. Not to toot my horn but, beep beep. Anyway, yall know I'd been feeling like my hair had been looking real ratchety lately so the fact that it miraculously looked this good was like, all sorts of insane. I accredit this miracle to four reasons. One, my Laced Hair Extensions. They are ridiculously wicked. Like, I full on have Beyonce hair. Two, I actually gave myself a blowout the night before these photos. Mind you, not a very good one because I have like 20lbs of thick textured hair and it takes me half an hour to just blow dry ONE section. So...yeah, my at home "blowouts" are pretty sloppy and the only reason they look even half way decent is because of my Chi hair blow dryer which is like the holy grail of blow dryers and totally worth the investment. Three, after said blowout I knew the exact kind of curl I wanted to go for but wasn't sure if I really had a curling iron for it. Then, low and behold, I remembered that I had a 1" cheapo Revlon curling iron, that had served me loyally and well for many years, that I had retired last Spring for some INsane reason. I pulled it out, clipped in my extensions, curled away, and voila BOMB a** hair! I must've been seriously insane in the brain when I decided to retire that curling iron because it is AWWWesome! Sometimes cheapo curling irons are the best. Oh, and four, Ashley is a magical unicorn photographer that makes all photos look good!!

The weather lately has been in that fun in between stage where it's not quite Summer anymore but not quite Fall. Sometimes this can be my favorite stage because it allows us to mix our Summer pieces with some of the Fall pieces we've been dying to pull out. I love mixing shorts with long sleeves and knits like this hat and scarf! Which, word on this scarf. It is INsanely soft, INsanely cozy, and INsanely adorable, if you couldn't tell. My sister crocheted it by hand and it is just ridiculously amazing! We're in the works of opening up a shop for her to more conveniently sell these babies, but in the meantime if any of you dudes are wanting a quality chunky handmade infinity scarf for the Fall/Winter email me and I will hook you up with an invoice and you get your hands on one of these bad boys! I promise you, they will go with 'errrr thing! I already have two that I've worn the crap out of! Also, these Hunters, ma dudes. I. Am. In. Love. They rock my world. I got them from Stylish Treasures, which is an INcredible IG thrift shop run by the amazeballs Brandi! I've been following her IG thrift shop for quite some time now and totally lusting over errrr' thing she posts but never actually pulling the trigger. When I saw these boots, though, I knew they had to be mine! The color was just SO unique and fun and she had them listed for an unbeatable price! I flippin' love Hunter's and I'm still in the market for some tall shaft black ones but they might have to wait awhile. You guys should ALL check out Brandi's shop, though, she has awesome finds for awesome prices and I believe she still has some Hunter's listed! As for my family's opinion on ma Hunter's, the jury is still hung! My dad and my sister love them and think they are quirky and cute! (My dad always happens to fully support the weirdest of my shoe decisions, though;) My mom, and my little brother, though? Well, let's just say I wouldn't put it past them to sneak them away in the night, cut them into little pieces, build a bonfire from their poor purple remains, and preform an Indian Rain dance around their ashes. ;)

Much love!

#aeostyle Awards!

Guesssss what, guys? American Eagle had their #aeostyle Awards last night, and guess who won Best Fit with these overalls? Yep, you all guessed it, yours truly! Eep! I was SO excited! If you guys are at all interested in checking out the #aeostyle Awards click here! Oh, and, guys? I really and truly wish I had something interesting to say to you all today but I think I've used up all of my interesting juices in the last couple of posts. Now I'm drawing a total blank, so I guess I'm all out of interesting juice. Sad, sad. What shall we chat about? Oh! I know! My little brother just got himself another controller for his PS3 so now we can play all of his Asian fighting games together! Man, I remember back in the day I was BOSS at playing Yugioh and Dragon Ball Z fighting video games. Is that kind of weird/lame? Possibly. But that's what happens when you're a big sister who tries to take interest in her kid brother's hobbies. :) Anyway, I will definitely be playin' it up on the PS3 this week with my lil' bro!:)

Guys, I am OBsessed with these overalls. OBsessed. They are just so dang cute and fun! I know they are totally a trend that will go out of style in the next couple of years, but they were just a trend that I was super into and just HAD to try out. What do you guys think of the overalls trend? Anyway, I can't wait to pair these babies with a chunky scarf and heels! Also, American Eagle has all their denim for $30! That's another reason I decided to go ahead and try out the overalls trend, because I found these for such a great price! I think when it comes to trendy pieces it's super important to find them at good prices otherwise you won't get your money's worth! I linked the exact pair that I'm wearing, up top and left links for other cute overall options down below! Oh, and on a side note, this bag still smells like baby crap. ;)

Much love!

GooGoo

When you're an immigrant kid growing up in the U.S. you spend your time in one of four ways and options one and two really just depend on what kind of neighborhood you live in. Option one, you wander the neighborhood streets with a bunch of white kids not really fitting in but tagging along anyway. Option two, you wander the neighborhood streets with a bunch of other brown kids and fit in fairly well but get judged by passersby as a bunch of miscreants. Option three, you become a crazy good athlete and spend all of  your afternoons practicing so that when you get bigger you can make loads of money and buy your mom a nice house. Option four, you realize you're a little bugger who's no good at sports, you'd rather not spend your time with all the other white kids or spend your time with other brown kids that don't really get you anyway because they aren't even immigrants, and therefore end up spending the bulk of your time indoors increasing your knowledge by extensive reading, spending loads of time in front of the boob tube (so as to balance out your embarrassingly higher than average IQ with some healthy doses of pop culture because, um, we're all suddenly equal in the land of elementary/middle school if we've watched the latest pop music videos and have kept up with those dang Kardashians), and/or playing outside with only your own siblings because they're the only one's who get you anyway. I was option four. Why am I telling you this? Well, because I'm about to tell you that growing up I spent an inordinate amount of time watching E! Which can bring you to the obvious conclusion that I spent inordinate amounts of time watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I know, so bad. Don't worry, I read enough classic English Literature for it to not completely melt my brain. ;) Anyway, for a few years there, I did not keep up with the Kardashians. This year though my sister and I got dragged back into watching the latest season for some reason, don't ask my why because I don't know, but now we're hooked again on their completely ridiculous lives. Can you say guilty pleasure? Guilty. Pleasure. There, said it myself. ;) Anyway, there's my little schpeel for the day!

Guys, I have literally not stopped thinking about The Goo Goo Dolls since I saw them a MONTH ago. They were just SOOOOOO good! And I mean, I've been a fan of them since my infancy, literally. I mean, my all time favorite song by them is 20 years old, only two years younger than I am. CARAZY. Anyway, I got a concert tee at the show and I've been dying to do a post with it to share with you guys ever since. I wanted to style it in a super laid back tomboyish way, so I paired it with my new pair of American Eagle overalls (which I'm in love with and will be featuring a few more times) and a bright baseball cap. Anyways, that's all I've got for you all today but be sure to tune in on Friday because I'm going to have an UUUUUUUUBER good giveaway for you all!

Much love!

Ricky

Guys, I've been listening to Ricky Martin non. stop. I love that guy. MmmmMmm, sounds of my childhood. Also, "Vuelve"? Possibly one of the best songs ever written. Ever. "Que sin ti la vida se me vaaaaaaa! Oooo, Oooo, Oooo!" Sigh, even, though, it's a song about a jerky turkey guy who breaks up with some poor girl only to want to get back together with her two seconds later, it's still swoon worthy levels of romantic. Ha, I remember when I was in elementary school all my friends were like, "Ricky Martin is soooo lame", and I was secretly like, "I love Ricky Martin. You guys don't get it, you guys are white. Man, I hate elementary school." ;) When we took these photos my best gal pal asked me if I felt like my style had changed a lot since high school. Ya know, after thinking about it, I honestly don't think it really has. I mean, I was certainly a touch more preppy in high school, and styles have changed, obviously, but other than that, my style has stayed much the same. :) I'm just as fashion obsessed as always! Fashion has just always been a passion of mine, even when, it didn't earn me any love or points on the "popularity" scale. I think I'd mentioned once before that back in elementary school I'd get teased about my style. Back then, tailored floral printed trousers, and white leather moccasins (wish I still had these) were my staple pieces. Of course, back when teeny shorts, spaghetti strap tanks, and chunky slip on sandals were the style, my tailored/structured outfits just didn't fly. How has YOUR style changed over the years?

This was one of my favorite shoots by far, you guys. I loved this completely white class room; it's so genius! It was easily one of my favorite rooms at the art show I've been chatting with you guys about! Also, remember when I first posted about my overalls and told you guys you'd be seeing a lot more of them? I wasn't lying. ;) I wanted to go for an uber relaxed look this time so I wore my ralls the "only one strap buckled" way with an edgy graphic tee, faux leather booties, and stone pendant! Whelp, that's all I've got for you guys today, happy hump day!

Much love!

Cheery as a ButterCup

I know I said I'd be sharing all the emotions I was deeply feeling yesterday, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Yesterday was deeply emotional enough already and full of special experiences that I'd just rather keep it to myself if that's cool with you guys. Anyway, before I started typing I actually had this totally genius idea for a funny post and now...it's gone. I seriously haven't the slightest clue what it might have been. My memory is pretty shotty. Anyway, last weekend I got bucket loads of nerd movie time in. I watched Godzilla and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Both were swasing stella. I've been a fan of both Godzilla and X-Men since childhood and neither disappointed. Holla! If any of you loves are comic nerds, like me, go and see them! Stat! ALSO! The Rush Hour movies are up on Xfinity OnDeman right now, and I'm like full on asthma attack freaking out about it! I LOVE those movies! Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan? Match made in heaven. Hallelu. Those two can make me laugh and feel cheerier than a buttercup better than anything! ALSO, ALSO! I've been keeping up practicing Ashtanga Yoga, and I must say, it is going marvelously. Even, though, I'm no were near as proficient as I aim to be, I can completely already feel the major changes it's making both physically and spiritually. It really is such a zen and enlightening experience to embark on the Yoga journey. I'm seeing this through you guys! After only a week I can already begin to feel how it is completely a journey of finding myself and getting to know my body on a deeper level! Not to mention that it's hard as crap.

Also, I'm feeling like I need some hair change. I know I definitely want to go for the uber long bohemian look, but getting it to that length is getting a little boring. I'm thinking bangs? Maybe? I don't know, every time I think I want bangs and I go out and get bangs I regret it ten seconds later. Ce la vie, am I right? If only I had Jennifer Lawrence's hair dresser, THEN I wouldn't hesitate about getting bangs for one second. Seriously, that girl has the most perfect beyond perfect bangs that I have ever seen. The scene in the latest X-Men movie when she's got this amazing retro floppy hat on is just divine. She looks fantastic. Anyway, celeb obsessions aside, I'm seriously loving my 'ralls. I know the overalls trend isn't for everybody, but I'm seriously loving it. Mostly because, if it reminds me of being 5, then I love it. Also, I'm SOOOO glad I snapped up these mirrored sunnies back in February when they were still in stock because now I can't find a pair like them ANYWHERE! Which, is kind of saddening because I've scratched these up pretty bad and I'd love to get a replacement pair. If any of you know of a place with sunnies like these in stock please inform me! :)

Much love!

Me and My 'Ralls

Ooot, ooot! Hours of messing around on the computer and playing around with different things and my girl Ro and I have finally figured out what the deal with the photos were! It is officially fixed and now you can all truly enjoy the splendor of her photographing talent!! Yippee! In other news, though, aforementioned best friend pointed out to me the other day that I'm pretty much the only one who doesn't call her Ro and calls her by her full name. This made me realize that I am such a full name kind of gal. All my life I've always called all my friends by their full name's rather than their nickname's. In middle school, it was one of my best friends, Christian. Everyone called him Chris, but not me. Nope, I called him Christian. In high school, one my best girl friends, Melissa went more by Meli than Melissa, but did I ever call her Meli? Nope. And those are just a few of my countless victims. ;) I don't know what it is, I didn't even realize I did it until the other day when it was pointed out to me, but I just have a hard time calling people by their nicknames. It feels unnatural on my tongue for some reason. Maybe it's because I don't go by any nicknames myself, and so my brain just unconsciously refuses to call anyone else by a nickname? Who knows. Maybe I'm just a butt head. That could definitely be it too. ;) I sure do like being one of the few Allexis' who actually goes by Allexis, though. It's nice.  Sets me apart from all dem otha "Lexi's", and "Alex's". Not that I mind any of those nicknames, Lexus and Lex being my favorites, but I just like my full name better. Although, I have to admit I have a soft spot for the nickname, "Lexi Lou". An old seminary teacher used to call me that and I thought it was cute.

Overalls, though, dudes. Best come back 90s trend of the year? Uh, yeah. Totally. Totes ma gotes. I flippin' love my 'ralls. They're so slouchy and cool and I don't even care that I look/feel like a 10 year old in them! You may all fully expect to see them featured a good few more times! For this look, though, I decided I wanted to style them in a more slouchy/ethereal/boho kind of way! Overalls and chunky knit cardigans are like a match made in heaven! Also, I can't get over how cool the vibe in these photos turned out. Seriously, if any of you Utah folk are in need of photos, hit up Ro Photography! She be shui (pronounced *shway*, like feng shui. Meaning cool, chill, awesome;). She be way shui. Anyway, I know that was super boring, and I promised you all it'd be a lot more entertaining/funny, but you know what? Maybe I'm just a boring person!!! ;) Just kidding, I've just been like on a weird writer's block, I-Literally-Have-Nothing-To-Say-Anymore-About-Anything-Unless-You're-Going-To-Feed-Me-Icecream, kick. I don't know what it is. I've lost my spunk you guys. I've just lost it. Poof. There it goes. It's gone. I'm not spunky anymore. ;) Anyway, I'm done. I'll leave you all to your days.

Much love!
