I'm a Little Weirdo

So, today I'm going to share a thought that I had this morning that will thoroughly convince you all of my oddness. I was on my run, getting pumped, enjoying this PERFECT Fall weather, loving the burning sensation in my lungs and legs and yet totally hating that I'm pretty much a suck butt runner now due to my back pain from the car accident I was in at the beginning of Summer, when I passed a farm-ish area complete with horses. And you all know what comes along with horses. Poop. Horse poop. That's what comes along with horses. And you know what comes along with horse poop? Stink. Now here comes the funny part. As I took a deep inhale of horse poop stench my initial thought was, "Ugh. Yeck." BUT, then I told myself, "No, Brain, you can't think that. Horse poop smell is the smell of nature. It's freshness. Breath it in. Enjoy it." Freaky right? I tried to CONVINCE myself that horse poop smell is a good smell. I tried to convince myself to like it. See, I told ya I was weird. ;) Also, I have a Gilmore Girls induced headache. I. Must. Stop. It's too hard, though, Rory and Dean (MmmmMmmm, Dean;) are deeply in love and Jess has just showed up to screw it all up. It's very intense. Very.

I think I've already mentioned, oh, about a thousand times, my love for maxi's in the Fall! For this look I was goin' for a more boho vibe so instead of wearing my maxi at my waist I wore it on my hips to give it a longer more casual feel. I also paired it with this yellow sweater which has now become my favorite sweater EVER! Seriously, I've been wearing it almost everyday! You all need a yellow sweater in your lives! I'll link some cute options down below! Also, blue and yellow is such a fun combo for Fall! It's unexpected and fun! Also, I'm in LOVE with these photos by Roxana! Seriously, she is amazing and you all need to book her for photos! Not to mention she has the cutest baby boy who I was making goofy faces at almost the entire time we were shooting so I'm very surprised that we managed to get any good photos!

Much love!

Liz On Top of the World

Hi guys! How were your weekends? Mine was soooo good! If you follow me on Instagram than you'll already know that my weekend rocked because of General Conference. For those of you who don't know what General Conference is it's a semiannual meeting of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, held every April and October during which we have the chance to hear the words of the living prophets! It really is so inspiring, uplifting, and comforting. I've never finished a session not having questions answered, fears quieted, and hurt feelings assuaged. If you're in need of any of these things as well, I invite you to not hesitate to stop by lds.org to seek the balm of the words from living prophets. I promise you, you will find comfort! The talks that stood out the most to me were Elder Oaks', Elder Klebingat's, Elder Holland's, and Elder Bednard's! Anyway, my spirit has been replenished and strengthened and I feel SO ready for this week! My spirit is pumped! Also, there's something to be said about spending an entire day in one's house completely make-up free, with sweats on, and a messy top knot. It pretty much rocks.

Guys, I really hope this doesn't sound cocky or anything, but I'm DYING over these photos! Not because of how I look or anything vain like that, but because of the COLORS, the COMPOSITION, the LIGHTING, my gosh! I got to meet up with the stupendous Raquel after General Conference on Saturday and snap these and I'm seriously blown away by how talented she is! Not to mention how incredibly friendly and fun she is! I love being able to get to know and work with fellow Latinas! It really is incredible how technology can bring people together. This year alone I've been able to meet and befriend so many amazing/talented people just through instagram! Sounds crazy, right?! Anyway, one of my favorite things about Fall is mixing and matching traditionally Summer pieces with Fall pieces like pairing a maxi skirt with a sweater! It is seriously one of my favorite things to do. It lets me lengthen the life of some the pieces in my wardrobe and keeps things feeling like they're new! Another one of my favorite things about Fall is wearing booties! Seriously, they're everything. There are so many different kinds of booties in terms of heel or no heel, color, cut, etc. The possibilities are endless! I picked up these nude ones at Aldo's (they were on clearance for $30!) and I've pretty much been wearing them non-stop. They go with everything and the chunky heel keeps them comfortable and practical! If you're in the market for a nude bootie (which, you should be;) I highly recommend these babies! They are unfortunately sold out, though, but I've linked the Target option below that look almost identical!

Much love!

Currently...

I think it's time for a little currently list.

Currently Doing: Why, typing up this post, of course. Aaaand sort of wishing I was sleeping instead. Sorry.
Currently Craving: A bone crushing hug from my little sister. Those were the best. Why can't she be back from her mission already, gosh dang it! ;)
Currently Feeling: Stressed. (When am I not, though? I'm going to give myself an ulcer.)
Currently Dreaming About: Being a gazillionaire. Seriously, there never seems to be enough dough under the morning sun to cover all the bills in life. I need me a soldier such as the ones Destiny's Child used to describe, "Can you pay my bills? Can you pay my automobile bills? Can you pay my telephone bills." ... "I need a soldier that ain't scared to stand up for me, gotta know to get dough and he better be street." Whatever that means. And I ain't no gold digger, by the way, nor do I want a shuga daddy but bills, bills, bills man. Can I just be graduated already and working on my career? That would be tres cool! (Tithing will be paid this weekend, though, and that's like my everything-will-be-ok insurance.)
Currently Reading: Pride & Prejudice (always)
Currently Watching: Nothing. All my TV series have gone on hiatus. Drat. Summer is the one time in the year when I actually have like an extra five minutes to spare for the boob tube and it's the time when nothing is on. Ah well, at least there's the World Cup.
Currently Wishing: I was progressing faster with my Yoga, but it's a slow going, patience teaching, journey.
Currently Thinking About: The fact that I'm a major Gassy Cassie right now. Did you all need to know that? Eh, no, but now you do. You're welcome. ;) This just in, I get gassy, therefore I AAAAM a human. ;)

Seriously, you guys, this skirt. This. Skirt. It's so divine that does it even need describing? Probably. But I'm too lazy/tired to do it. ;) No, really, though, it is possibly the most perfect maxi skirt my body has EVER worn. Not even kidding. So light weight, SO swishy, so figure flattering. Not to mention, it's RED. Hallelu. It is perfect. I'd been looking for an airy, dreamy, long maxi in a fun color for the summer for the past couple of weeks and this Chic Wish one fulfilled all my requirements! Holla! I decided to keep the look simple, since I didn't want to detract from the awesomeness (That is actually a word, apparently. I am surprised.) of it. To top it off I thought my mirrored John Lennon glasses would give a nice contrast to the skirt so I whipped those babies out. Which, by the way, they're one of the pairs I picked up in Vegas, and I'm OBsessed. Anyway, that's it for today, folks. Stop by Chic Wish and stock up on maxi's fer yerselves because their maxi's are swasing divine! :)

Much love!

50 Shades of Blue

Wanna know a book I never read? 50 Shades of Gray. I just never got pulled into the hype, and to be quite honest, and feel free to call me a prude for saying this, but I just thought it seemed kind of, well, filthy, for lack of a better word. It just wasn't me cup o' tee. Well, that, and I'm just a total snob and I tend to steer away from things that get way hyped up and popular. I know, I know, what a snob I am. I know what you're all thinking, "well, what about The Fault in Our Stars, then Allexis? Huh? Huh? You loved that!" Here is my reasoning, I've liked it since it first came out two years ago, i.e. before it was cool. Wow. Did that just come out as lame and pretentious as I think it did? Yep. I sound like a total butt head. I'm a butt head. Anyway, aside from the fact that I'm a butt head, remember how I mentioned last post that I'm not a huge fan of the summer time? Well, I just remembered another reason it's not my favoritest (yes, I just used a non-existent word. Apparently I'm also a butt head with improper grammar;) of seasons is sandals. Although, I think sandals are crazy adorable, I just can't get over the fact that it's impossible to go a day wearing sandals without coming home to find that the soles of my feet are blacker than nose hairs. I might as well be walking around barefoot. Which, actually, I'd strangely kind of prefer. :)

Now that we've established that I'm a summer hating, stuck up, butt head, let's get onto some outfit chit chat. ;) My awesome pawsome sissy snapped these photos for me while we were in Vegas. She da best! Anyway, I wore this look when we went out shopping and I loved it! I thought layering my blue mirrored aviators with my blue stone necklace and blue maxi skirt would be a super fun/simple look! Not to mention that wearing a breezy maxi was a beyond genius idea because it kept me nice and cool in the 100+ degree Vegas weather! :) Also, messy fish tail braids, my dudes! Dey da best! My only regret is that my hair is so dark you can hardly even see the braid, alls wells. Ce la vie! :)

It's all in the Pleats

Guesss who gots a massage yesterday? Me, me! Mmmm it was just what the doctor ordered! Lots of the icky left over tension from the car accident was worked out! Bless my soul! Also, the masseuse I went to is a complete and total genius! The dude has a gift, no joke, and he sure knows his way around a back! Does that sound weird? Maybe. Whatever, he does. Also, he could somehow tell, without even touchin' em, that my quads where the quads of a runner and a runner who doesn't stretch nearly enough...I'm lame, I know. Anyway, my prognosis is this, my lower back has a curve to it, as all athlete's backs do apparently, however, because of the accident my curve is too deep and it's causing the muscles in my upper back, shoulders, and neck to bend forward. Yick. Basically, I have to stretch, stretch, stretch and do some moves he recommended or I'll look like Quasi Motto. Also, I've decided to just plain old add in yoga to my daily workout routine/running mileage. I was never a big yoga fan before because I never thought it was fast/intense enough. I did a routine last night, though, and boy was I ever wrong. That shiz is hardcore you guys. Hard. Core. I'm dedicating myself to becoming an Ashtanga Yoga practitioner. Yipee! Also, this marks my second massage in the entirety of my life and this is what I've learned, once you get over the fact that you're not wearing a bra, and that the masseuse is seeing your back, a part of yourself that you never really look at and as far as you know could be covered in thick hair and pimples, massages really aren't that awkward and I would absolutely love to massaged at least 5 hours a day! ;)

MmmMmm to this skirt, you guys. It. Is. A. Dream. So much so, that it requires the use of incorrect grammar. Holla! I mean really, there isn't much in this world that tops a swishy pleated maxi. Seriously, though, guys, it's the pleats that are the secret to a super chic looking maxi that's a cut above those average jersey material cling to yo butt ones. Also? There's none of that super annoying, tiny-underlining-so-it's-sheer-from-the-mid thigh-down thing going on with this skirt! It's lining comes all the way down so everything is properly covered, I mean, the world don't want to be seeing no hooha's. Ja feel? Ja feel. ;) Also, Chic Wish's current maxi skirt line up is to die for. I've got my wee little eyes on this nude colored one, I mean, pair it with a denim top, tons of stacked jewelry, and a little black purse and you've got an effortlessly chic combo! Also? This ombre maxi is like the skirt of my dreams. I mean, it's an ombre maxi! Need I say more? Oh, and I know it's still way too early for fall (I'm always planning outfits months and months in advance;) but this maxi skirt would be PERF with my biker booties, a plain white tee, and a killer leather jacket. Hallelu, you guys, HA-LE-LU.

Much love!
