Ya know, I was thinking the other day that I'm pretty much just like Hagrid from Harry Potter. Well, not appearance wise, obviously. More in the sense that Hagrid is a huge blabber. Not because he intends to, more so because things just slip out. The same thing happens to me ALL the time. If you ask me something my answer will slip out before I realize that I probably shouldn't have said anything. It sucks! Especially when I get asked personal questions. My answer will come out so automatically that I'm just left thinking, "Dang it! I didn't actually want to tell you that." It also pretty much means that I can never divulge things at my own pace, not to mention the countless times I've gotten my siblings into trouble because of it. Seriously, I feel like my older sister and I would constantly have this conversation: -"Did you tell Mom?" Me-"...she asked, sorry!"

Like I've mentioned a thousand times already, I LOVE Christmas! I've been SO excited to share these photos not only because this is THE perfect holiday dress but also because Rachel did such a great job with the photography! Seriously, I can't say enough kind words about that girl! I love the idea of wearing unexpected colors, like purple, for holiday outfits and this dress fit the bill perfectly! It's sadly sold out, though, so I'll link similar options as well other cute holiday dress options down below! Anyway, I hope you're all enjoying this holiday season as much as I am!

Much love!

All Sorts of Boring

Sooo, let's just pretend Tuesday's post never happened. Kay? Kay. Because I'm going to be honest with you guys, I was totally still half asleep when I wrote that. I guess that advice that if you have an idea in the middle of the night you should wake up and write it is totally bogus. At least for me anyway. My half asleep ideas are preeeeeeetty weird. So yeah, that's that. Also, it's 63 degrees here in Utah. In DECEMBER. Is anyone else disturbed by this? I sure am. I mean, I like nice weather and all but I REALLY, REALLY want a white Christmas. I mean, after eighteen years, a girl sort of get's used to having snow for the Christmas season! Also, I don't know if I ever mentioned this to you guys but before I worked at the DMV I worked at a restaurant called Village Baker. Anyway, now that I'm working at Ferrari Color I almost always pick up the phone and start saying, "Thank you for calling Village Baker!" Talk about confusing! It's crazy how silly things like that can get so ingrained into our habits! Anyway, that's all I have to say for today. I know, I'm all sorts of boring. I guess my mind is just elsewhere. Also, this going to bed early thing isn't really working out for me. Now that I've made the conscious decision to listen to my body and go to sleep the moment it feels tired, I don't feel tired till midnight. Go figure.

I love the look of all black outfits in the Winter (or in Utah's case, FALL) especially with shiny riding boots! It's just one of those classic simple looks that are always super chic! I didn't want to be too plain, though, so I livened it up with some festive green plaid. Also, purple hair, you guys. I know I've said this a thousand and one times but I seriously wish my actual hair were purple! As it is, I'm too chicken-y to do it so I'll just stick with this cute wig! ;)

Much love!

Un Petite Fille

The last couple of days I've been trying out this weird little thing called "going-to-bed-EARLY". I always used to be so good at doing that and then this last year I just sort of started staying up a little later and a little later and a little later. I wasn't even doing anything important either. Just wasting time on the internet and watching movies on Netflix. Anyway, last night I actually listened to my body and went straight to bed the moment it felt sleepy. Which was at about eight flippin' thirty. Hashtag "grandma status" anyone? Oh well, it's healthy. Anyway, I went to bed the instant I felt tired and now here I am at 3:30 in the morning fully awake and typing up this post. Well, I guess that fully awake part is debatable. ;) Which you could possibly use as the reason for the deluge of random thoughts you're all about to receive. Ready for all of these random thoughts of mine? Because I honestly don't even know where to start. All I know is I have an abundance of vague thoughts that are just dying to spill out in some form of creative way and I'm not so sure I actually know how to express it all. Does that make any sense or is it just the sleep talking? It's probably just the sleep but humor me and just roll with me here. Let's start with the topic of perception. I was just thinking the other day how odd it is that people can perceive you in a completely different manner than you perceive yourself. Isn't that odd? I mean, when I look in the mirror I just see me. I mean, beyond the brown eyes, freckles, sharp nose, high cheekbones, and big smile I see all of the thoughts, recollections, and experiences that have shaped ME. Now, this next bit might sound like it's completely off topic but it fits into the idea I'm trying to express here so bare with me. You know how every family has that annoying sibling that runs to their mom with the silly and ludicrously simple accusation of, "MOOOOOM, they're looking at me. Tell them to stop looking at me!" In my family, I was that sibling. Granted, I was just the annoying sibling in general. ;) Anyway, what I'm trying to get at here is that I don't like being looked at and I never really have. Sort of funny coming from a girl who chooses to blog about fashion and thereby post pictures of herself for the world to see, right? Call me a Starburst I guess. Ya know cause of that whole "Starburst is a solid yet juicy like a liquid" thing? From the "contradiction" commercial with the Scottish Korean eating Starbursts? Ringin' any bells? No? Moving on then. My mom was telling me yesterday that she couldn't understand people that didn't like being looked at. She thought it was the strangest thing because she didn't have any problem with people looking at her because she figures, "I'm an attractive lady. Keep on lookin". Not just that, but she also said people needed to get over themselves and realize that sometimes the so called "lookers" aren't even looking at them, they're just staring blankly. Am I making any sense with this? Anyway, here's to getting over myself and letting people stare. Who cares. Well, no, I take that back because deep down I cares. I think that it stems from the fact I wish people would see beyond the exterior and see ME. The way that I see me. To see me for me. Like that "Hey Leonardo" song by Walking Buzz. 90s throwback anyone? Anyway, maybe I'm not even making any sense and this whole thing is just stupid. I guess what I'm getting at, though, is that I wish people (and by people I mostly mean the male population) would see me and see the descriptives that I use to describe myself such as, "modest, happy, daughter of God, a lady -in the truest meaning of the word-, and deserving of respect" rather than, "hot". That word just really irks me. I know most women would just tell me to quite whining and take the "compliment" but I just don't see that word as being a compliment. It just feels objectifying and undermining of all of my efforts to be a lady and by textbook standards, "The word lady is a civil term of respect for a woman". So I just want some good old R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Don't get me wrong, though, I'm not against receiving compliments. It's the best thing in the world to receive chivalrous compliments like, "beautiful", "gorgeous" or heck, something complimentary of my personality. I think that society has forgotten that chivalry extends beyond opening doors and that being a true gentleman also means being chivalrous in thought and word.

Anyway, that's the gist of my rant. Hopefully it had some passing semblance of sense. I'm just a petite fille who woke up at 3:30 in the morning with a head chuck full of thoughts wanting to be shared. A petite fille who likes to don purple wigs because she wishes she had short purple hair but lacks the gumption to actually do it, who likes to run in the mountains, eat ice cream, jam out to insanely loud music in the car, has funny fantasies about being a contestant on The Voice, mega fan of cheesy pop like The Backstreet Boys yet fan of insanely obscure indie artists like Wake Owl, has wrists the size of the average 7 year old (I googled and confirmed this;), dreamer who wishes she could buy a plane ticket for a trip around the world, lover of anything sci-fi/fantasy, concert go-er, and a gosh dang happy daughter of a Heavenly King. Anyway, that's that. I've run out steam and as it's now 5:15am I think I'll just go back to bed for a couple of more hours. :)

Much love!

Change, Change is Good

Life is such a funny thing. It's up, down, and all around and somehow still amazing! I don't know if I mentioned this last week or not, ... but I started a new job! AH! I'm so, so, so excited for the new beginning and from the days I've already worked I can tell I'm really going to like this job! I'm such an oddball when it comes to change, though. I'll drag my heels fighting tooth & nail for all of the moments leading up to any big change but then when it actually happens I sort of love it! I think it's maybe just because I'm so sentimental about everything and I get very emotionally attached to silly things pretty easily. Heck, I can't even clean out my closet because I get so attached to everything in it! My sister hatesssss me for it because I never have ANY room in my closet from keeping things in there from when I was in middle school. I mean, memories!! (Not that I remember middle school with too much fondness;) Anyway, aside from really loving my new job, I'm tooootally missing working at the DMV! I know, I know, SUPER weird. It's not exactly known for being the cheeriest place around but I got pretty attached to that stinkin' place! I loved all my oldie co-workers (seriously, 90% of them where white haired grandparents) I LOVED getting to see about a hundred different people in one day, and I just sort of liked helping everyone register their vehicles. It was weirdly enjoyable even if it was insanely monotonous! Oh well, though, change is good, it means I'm just moving forward! Also, Christmas season, guyssss! I'm all sorts of INSANELY excited! Christmas is my FAVORITE time of year! I am 100% one of those crazy chipper Christmas people and I'm dang proud of it! I wish I could somehow convince my entire ward that we should sing all three sacrament hymns STANDING, though, because I feel like you can't really get in the proper Christmas hymn mood if you're sitting!

I'm SO excited to finally be posting some Holiday looks! Rachel and I had so much fun shooting at The Grand America with all of it's twinkling lights! Also, when it comes to Holiday outfits you can never go wrong with a little red! Anyway, I'm running out of writing steam, here, so I think that's all I've really got to say. I know, I stink. But see that crazy face I'm making in that last photo? That is the face of a girl who is crazy excited for Christmas! Heck to the yeah!

Much love!

Knowing Me, Knowing You

You know what would be so cool? If one of the contestants on The Voice sang an ABBA song. That would just be the most wicked thing ever! #IHaveWeirdWishes ;) I don't know why, but a couple of weeks ago I got a sudden urge to listen to ABBA so I made myself a little playlist on Spotify. I remember when I was a kid my family and I would always rock out to ABBA on road trips. My favorite song being, "Knowing Me, Knowing You". Hence the name of this post, haha! :) Cheers to having parents who grew up in the 70s! My future children will probably get heavy doses of 90s music and all the awesome/weird stuff I listen to! I'm a huge music lover so I'll probably always either be humming, singing, playing the piano, or just have music playing in the background on my iPhone (if iPhone's will even still be relevant;). Also, mini dance sesh's with ma kiddos are going to be THE best! I remember that my siblings, mom, and I would always have random dance parties in our living room. I loved it! Also, I have this weird fascination with the lyric, "Gimme, gimme, a man after midnight". I know that's probably a super dirty lyric or what not but I'm weirdly obsessed with it for some crazy/freak reason. Yeahhhhh....I'm a weirdo. Also, I toooootally have ashy knees in these photos but let's all just pretend like they're perfectly moisturized, kay? Kay. :)

Sooo this is like my favorite dress EVER now. For cereal (seriously). It's got that super awesome baby doll shape, which, if you guys didn't know, is TOTALLY flattering! It hides any trouble spots you may have in the torso area and totally emphasizes yo legs while making them look teeny tiny! Holla! Also, that 70s pattern? I die. I LOVE 70s fashion! Oh, and these wedges? They're my new favorite pair of shoes! They seriously go with EVERYTHING, they're SUPER comfortable (like, I could wear them for 8hrs straight with no pain), and they're the cutest things my eyes have ever beheld! Plus, they were on sale for SEVEN dollars!! Also, if you couldn't tell, I was totally vibin' the 70s today! ;) I totally thought I wouldn't be wearing open toed shoes anymore by this time of year but the weather here in Utah has been COMPLETELY dry, and warm. It's weird. I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE good weather but I really REALLY want a white Christmas and the longer it takes to snow the more freaked out I get by global warming!! (I should technically call it "climate change", but eh, same difference;)

Much love!
