See Ya 2014

Ever have one of those days when you just wake up brimming with confidence? I'm having one of those days. Heck, I'm having one of those weeks! It's like that Foster the People song, "Life on a Nickel", that says, "Hell yeah, I'm awesome. I'm awesome." (Sorry for the expletives.) I think it's just because, like I said yesterday, I know who I am, I like that person, and I'm happy with that person. Sooo, "heck yeah, I'm awesome" and so are all of you! 2014 really was such a great year and I think it's time for my cheesy "highlight reel"! Let's get started! Top moments: My little sister leaving to serve as a full time missionary for the LDS church in Canada, turning 22 (holla!), finally getting to see my all time favorite band, The Goo Goo Dolls, in concert thanks to my awesome older sister, working at the DMV (this is a weird one, I know, but strangely enough, I really liked that job), moving onto a "big girl" job at Ferrari Color, getting my first car EVER (this was huge for me because I used to just carpool, run, or take public transportation everywhere), transferring universities (whoop, whoop!), and just all the moments in between full of laughter, smiles, and love shared with family and friends! Really, this year I've been so grateful for my group of girlfriends! They're all such great girls and I love 'em with all of my dang heart! :) Life is so great, and there's nothing like a New Year to really make you appreciate that so jump and dance!

Whelp, loves, this is my last NYE outfit for you all! This time I was going for "edgy-rocker-casual". I went with sequins, because, duh, it's NYE and to complete the look I pulled out my handy dandy Goo Goo Dolls t-shirt and distressed acid wash jeans! Also, I just wanted to go full out "edgy wild" so I put on ma purple wig! I know, I know, I'm so weird. ;) Oh and, once again, I just have to say Shailynn is awesome! When I told her I wanted to put on a purple wig and just jam out, instead of looking at me like I was a whack-o, she was all for it! She be way cool. ;) Anyway, you all know how crazy obsessed I am with music so I obviously put together a New Year's Eve playlist and I've been full on jamming out to it pretty much nonstop! Anyway, I'm linking it below so give it a listen! I seriously hope you all have a fabulous NYE and stay safe!!

Much love and Happy New Year!!!!

Girls Like You

All of 2014 I've had the most awful time sleeping. For starters, I've shared a room all of my life so when my little sister (with whom I shared a room) left on her mission I learned something about myself. I can't sleep alone. I need someone to talk to as I fall asleep. Kind of embarrassing? Maybe, but I have no shame. ;) Next, since my car accident in May that messed up my back in major ways, sleeping just sort of became uncomfortable. Something always aches and causes me to wake up at random parts of the night. Why am I boring you all with these sleep details? Because I am once again up at a random time of night typing up a post. Which, you all know is no good because that means you're about to be bombarded with extremely weird half asleep thoughts! You're welcome. ;) *Side-Note* I am listening to a pretty bomb playlist right now and it's making my half asleep self very pumped and feel like running a 5k right now would be the best idea. Then again, though, what doesn't seem like a good idea when one is half asleep? Also, Mike Posner, you guys, whatever happened to him? He was one groovy guy. Kay, let's tackle these weird thoughts of mine. I have LOOOVED being 22. It has been by far one of my favorite ages. "I don't know about you, but I'm feelin' twenty-twooo!" That was definitely an anthem this year. ;) I just feel like I really know myself as a person now, I know who I am, what I want out of life, where I want to go with life, and maybe not exactly how to get there but at least definitely how not to get there. Along with really knowing myself, I've sort started feeling like, "This is me, take it or leave it. My world is not dictated by how many people like or dislike me." That isn't to say that I'm some sort of butt head that doesn't believe in change or growth. I'm constantly working on being a better me and being more Christ like. For me, "take it or leave it" just means I know my personality, I know my quirks, and I don't think there's anything wrong with who I am. I'm a dreamer, I get distracted easily, I love cheese & peanut butter (not together, obviously), I'm a book loving, comic reading, cartoon watching, movie obsessed nerd, I constantly quote movies, I mishear 90% of what people say because I'm sort of deaf, I LOVE music and I will sing & dance to almost any song I hear no matter where I am (I'm actually dancing right now as I sit on my bed typing this), I have a FIRM testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I have absolutely no qualms when it come to sharing this with anyone/everyone, I love humans and I truly believe that being kind will get you far, "It is always brave to be kind", no one ever regrets being kind, I have very grandma like tendencies but I also have very childlike tendencies, I think old people and kids are the most magical and in tune people so I sort of love the fact that I'm like an old little girl, and that's me. If you ever meet me I can assure you I will do my best to be kind to you and be your friend but on the flip side I also know that there will always be people in the world that just won't "get" me and that's ok. That's just life. There's ultimately only one person I need to worry about pleasing and being able to meet without embarrassment or apology and that's God. So here's to continuing to be myself in the New Year and continuing to grow as a person!

Time for another New Year's Eve look! This look is definitely my "go big or go home" look! There's no time like NYE to really go "out" there with fashion choices so I decided to go a little sequin crazy and pair this rose gold sequined dress with this gold sequined jacket! I just thought it was out there, fun, flirty, and just a little crazy! Also, tights, tights, tights y'all. They're your key to pulling off a dress or a skirt without freezing your buns off! Especially if you're a local, and you're in Utah because we're about to have a record-breaking-cold three days! Be forewarned! Anyway, I know I say this, like, always but Shailynn is SOOOO bomb. Seriously, this girl knocks it out of the flippin' park as a photographer EVERY SINGLE DANG TIME. I come to her with my crazy weird ideas and she's always, always game and ALWAYS manages to make my ideas actually look good. Girl's a genius. Book her for photos! Anyway, that's all for today but be sure to check back tomorrow for my last "NYE" look!

Much love!

NYE with Aerie "Night In"

Time for part two of my New Year's Eve looks with Aerie! Yippee! This look was all about a "night in", which, I thought was so fun because, as a teenager, this is how I spent most of my New Years. I was a pretty tame kid. :) Of course, now a days, I'm more a fan of going out dancing and driving around at night excitedly anticipating a new year and a "new me" but I'm sure soon enough I'll be back to celebrating the new year snuggled in at home! Also, I just have to throw this out there, I don't know how many of you are Foster the People fans, but I am and every time I wear this beanie all I can think of is that lyric, "I'm Superman and it's my show" from the song "Don't Stop". Soooo, I'm Superman and this is my show. ;) Anyway, posting twice in one day means I'm kind of short on things to talk about. Yikes! How were yer weekends? Mine was pretty dang fab! I saw the "Tree of Life" for the first time which was super nice and then I got my butt pretty much whooped at just about every board game I own. Stink. Don't worry, though, this will not be a regular occurrence. ;)

For a night in, watching the ball drop on Times Square on the good old television, the key to a cute look is keeping it cozy while bringing in fun sparkly elements that make it so it doesn't feel like just another boring night at home! This sequined bralette layered underneath this soft henley is the perfect way to add that bit of New Year's fun while these cozy little knit PJ shorts keep things casual and comfy! Thanks again to Aerie for sponsoring this fun NYE series and I hope you guys got some fun outfit inspiration from it! I'll be back tomorrow with a couple more NYE looks for you all!

Much love!

NYE with Aerie "Night Out"

Oh my flippin' heck, you guys! Can you all believe it's the 29th?!! It's mind boggling, right? Like, how in the heck did we get here so fast?! I know everybody says this about every year, but 2014 felt like the fastest year I've lived to date! It just flew by! Soooo much happened this year, it's wild! Is it crazy to miss years? Buhcause I'm already missing 2014! It was just such a stinkin' good year, ja feel? I'll get to all the "things-I-accomplished" sappy talk in a couple of days, so for now I'll just say, "2014, baby, you were good to me!" Man, I have a love-hate relationship with New Years. I love the excitement and prospects for new opportunities, but I'm also a mild hater of change. I get emotionally attached to silly things like what year the calendar says. Insane, right? I guess I'm just an Emotional Edith. ;) No harm in loving years, right?!

When it comes to NYE we all know there are really only two ways to celebrate: out on the town with friends, or snuggled in at home with loved ones! To make your New Year's Eve a little easier I've put together a few looks for you all for each way to celebrate! I don't know about you guys, but when I'm ringing in the new year with a night out on the town I want to be warm, comfortable, and cute! I don't want to have to worry about tugging a dress down all night or having freezing bare legs! These cute sequined leggings are THE perfect piece to meet those needs without having to compromise looking great! To complete the look and keep it fun, I paired these bad boys with a fun printed sweater and wedges that are comfy enough to dance the night away in! Sequins are really a no brainer when it comes to NYE and some other fun ways to style some cute sequined leggings would be with a fun graphic tee and classic pair of pumps, or with a boyfriend blazer and plain white tee! The possibilities are endless and there's really no way to go wrong with these leggings! Also, although you can't see it, I'm wearing one of Aerie's lace bralettes and it is AMAZE-ing!! It's seriously the most comfortable bra ma girls have ever worn, not to mention it's SUPER cute! That's a win-win when it comes to bras for me! Especially the comfort factor! I seriously HATE wearing bras so finding one that is comfortable and barely noticeable is HUGE for me! I'm seriously never buying any other kind of bra ever again. Not even kidding! Anyway, stay tuned because a little later on today I'll be posting my second look with Aerie for a "night in"! :)

Much love!

Happy Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve! Yippee! For Latinos that means that today we'll be having a HUGE Christmas dinner, celebrating the birth of our Savior, and counting down till midnight when we'll open our gifts! Since I'll be taking tomorrow off of blogging, though, I wanted to stop by today to just quickly share my last "holiday" inspired look! I also wanted to take a moment to share with you guys the reason behind my joy for this season and one of my most cherished Christmas moments! I want to preface this all by saying that when my family and I made the move to the States we moved into very humble circumstances. My first Christmas here is one that, although I don't remember clearly, is spoken of almost every Christmas season in my home to remind us of God's tender mercies and the gratitude we feel for the place we've reached as a family. It was a cold and quiet Christmas Eve night and my family and I sat gathered together in our small apartment. I can't quite remember if we had any Christmas decorations, if we did they would have been quite simple. My two sister's and I would have been somewhere between the ages of 6 to 2 years old. It was as we sat there, quietly celebrating, that my dad looked around to each of his little girls and felt an ache in his heart that he hadn't been able to get even one gift for us to share. We, of course, where happy regardless but still he sat in silence ruminating over his disappointment. As he sat, quietly wrapped in thought, there came a knock at the door. When my dad went to see who might be calling on such a night he found that there was no one at the door, instead there lay a carefully wrapped gift on the doorstep. As he looked around at the snowy surroundings to find the blessed stranger who might have left the gift, he found that there was no one in sight. He closed the door with a feeling of such great love and gratitude. As he was gently setting the gift down, there came another knock at the door. Once again, there was a gift placed on the doorstep but no giver in view. All through the night this process continued until when midnight came, and we where to open gifts, our small apartment was overflowing with gifts given from unseen hands. Now, the importance of this story isn't that we went from having no gifts to an abundance of gifts, rather, that a loving father's quiet and unspoken prayer was answered by an even greater and loving Father in Heaven. That there where people out there in tune with The Spirit so much that they answered those promptings and thus became unseen angels for a small family. Many Christmas' have since passed and there have been many seasons of abundance and many seasons of humility. Regardless of the grandeur that we may or may not have on a particular season, though, we know that the true reason we celebrate is to show our great joy that "God so loved the world, that he sent his only Son" and because he sent his Son we have the great and blessed opportunity to be with Him again and be re-united with loved ones beyond the veil! How deep and great is my joy for the Savior! "Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare him room! And heaven and nature sing!"

I don't want to ruin the message of this post with too much outfit talk so I'll keep it simple. If you want a more cozy/casual Christmas look this sweater and skirt are definitely for you! The sweater is so, so, cozy, warm and perfectly over-sized to hide your Christmas dinner pooch and this suede skirt is so soft and keeps things fun/flirty! Also, Shailynn is a MAGNIFICENT photographer and one of the sweetest girls I know! Seriously, girl has got it all! Plus, she makes me laugh like a goober, if you couldn't tell. If any of you are in need of photos, she is your girl! I mean, she made ME look good and I'm a gosh dang awful model! Anyway, that is all! I hope you all have a very happy Christmas and take sometime to consider the reason why we celebrate!

Much love!
