A Little Man who Didn't Like Flan

Haaaaaaappy Monday loves! Not. Mondays are pooey. ;) Anyway, I was just thinking about the influx of traffic and readers to this lil' space of ours lately and I realized that I haven't really done a "formal" intro of myself for our new friends! I mean, I know I've got my handy dandy little tabs up top that do a pretty good job of introducing my weird little self, but I feel like the only real information that can be gleaned from my tabs is that I'm, what I like to lovingly refer to myself as, "adorkable". Haha, kidding. Kidding. I don't think anyone actually thinks of me that way, but I am a dork. Anyway, I thought I'd put together a fun little list of five random things about myself so any new readers can get to know me a little better. Here goes...
  1. The only two foods I ever crave in life are, Orange Juice...and Flan. I'm sort of obsessed with them. OJ just makes me happy, and I mean the juice not the person. Haha I'm so punny. ;) And, well, flan is...flan. I mean, who couldn't love that caramely gooey good stuff?! I know who, Ben Stiller. Anyone remember that movie, "Envy", he was in with Jack Black? Ya know, "VaPOOrize". Ringing any bells? Well, there are multiple flan references in that movie. Check it, here's one.
  2. I frequently daydream about being on The Voice. I would pick either Adam or Blake as my coach and I would try out with this song. Still contemplating what I would wear, though...Anyway, that's how thoroughly I've thought it out. ;) Now if only I could sing...
  3. I'm very particular about the cheese that I like, but if I could, I would subsist on cheese sticks and queso fresco. I love those suckers.
  4. Bed time is my least favorite time of the day. I never sleep well, and I just kind of think it's boring. I'd rather be doing other things. Crazy much? Yes, but I never claimed otherwise. ;)
  5. I invent my own catch phrases. I have a few of them listed on my "isms" tab, but right now I'm playing around with "donka schoen". I mean, I know it's already a phrase in German, but I'm playing around with using it as a verb. For instance, "I'm going to go all donka schoen on your butt", or, "Don't get all donka schoen on me". I'm also playing around with using "das auto" in place of "that's funny". Whenever my sister says something even remotely amusing I'll chime in with my, "das auto".  I guess I have a thing for the German language. :)

I wore this look yesterday for church. I was going for a classic "50s school teacher" look, which actually ended up working out perfectly because one of my fellow Sunday School teachers got sick and I was asked to teach the lesson last minute. The outfit planning part of my brain secretly knew that was going to happen. ;) Really, though, the whole night before I had been feeling that I needed to study the lesson as if I were going to teach it, but like a little dummy, I ignored it and sho 'nuff I was asked to fill in a few hours before church. Recognizing promptings of the Spirit can be hard sometimes, but I'm definitely never doubting myself again. If I feel I need to do something I just gosh dang gotta do it. :) Anyway, I've had this skirt for a while now and I'm still just as in love with it as ever. I love it's color, movement, shape, and most of all modesty. It's hard to find a cute modest skirt these days! :) Also, these heels? Yeah, they're pretty much the highest heels I have EVER worn in my life. My foot is SO arched in them!! Every time I take them off I get a case of Barbie Foot for a couple of hours. Don't know what Barbie Foot is? Eets joost when your feet get stuck in that arched position. Anyway, these babies are definitely a challenge to walk in without feeling like I might loose my balance and plunge forward to a tragic death at any moment.

Much love!

Straight from the 50s

There's nothing quite like family. Sorry to get cheesy on you all today, but it's true. I just love seeing my mom interact with her siblings! After spending a lifetime apart, it's just so great to see how they can so easily pick up were they left off and have SO much to talk and laugh about. It's the greatest, especially since their laughter is so infectious. I mean, put my mom in the same room as her siblings and it's like an instant comedy show. Sometimes I wish we all still lived in the same country. Family relationships are just irreplaceable, and everyday I'm more and more grateful that my mom encouraged my siblings and I to build a strong sibling bond. I love having that support system and the constant knowledge that no matter WHAT I have three constant best friends to count on. Plus, it's just fun having people who know EVERY SINGLE part of you...and still like you anyway.
Sunday was a super cloudy and mildly rainy day so I decided to go with darker colors. I love pairing plaid with denim. It's one of my favorite combinations! Denim shirt on top and plaid layered underneath OR plaid on top and denim underneath. Either way, I love it! I'm also very in love with this skirt from ChicWish. I got it sometime in November last year and I've been wearing it constantly ever since. It's just the perfect basic piece for Sunday wear. Not to mention that the shape and length are utter perfection! I've been really trying to work on my personal modesty, and this skirt is the perfect piece to help me do just that. Also, can you tell I didn't give a monkey's fart about doing my hair today? I was tired from a long week and I just honestly didn't give a toot about trying anything fancy, so I just threw it up into a ponytail on top of my head. Quick solution? Check! Never mind my flyaway baby hairs. ;)

Wagons, Spilled Milk, and an Early Spring

Oh boy, the weekend I've had. First, San Francisco was as rainy as a butt crack. It wasn't much different from being in Utah except for the fact that it was a balmy 55 degrees. It was quite pretty to see all of the pretty trees atop the small little mountains, though, but it was just a weekend full of stresses and a whirlwind of emotions. Family, however darling they may be, can sometimes be a bit of a pain in the rear. ;) Except for you, Allison, of course. ;) Also, I've discovered that I kind of like the driving part of trips far better than the arriving at the actual destination part. Weird, I know. There's just something about looking out of a window that captures my fancy like nothing else. Also, I've decided that as soon as I'm a millionaire I'm going to buy myself a lakeside cabin at Lake Tahoe. ;) Lake Tahoe just really captured my heart, it's so ridiculously pretty!
Even, though, I went from rainy San Francisco to even rainier Utah, I'm glad it's just rain and not snow. Knock on wood. Plus, I like the rain. It's strangely relaxing. Also, rainy days just remind of that little children's song, "You are my Sunshine". I always looooooved that song. It was one of my favorites as a kid! Although, the rain does make it seem like Spring is coming a full month early! Not that I'm complaining. It's nice to be able to start incorporating more Spring pieces, like this floral top and baby pink sweater!

Now, I have to confess something. This entire outfit is new. I fell off the band wagon, guys. My mom and I were just feeling super down the day we dropped my little sister off at the MTC so we decided to take a trip to the mall. I hadn't planned on buying anything but after my mom bought me couple of things it's like a switch went off in my mind and I immediately had to get everything. I didn't of course, but I did buy 6 things. This outfit included. I feel yucky. But, hey, the only thing left to do now is learn from this experience and realize that I created the guidelines of my Closet Challenge for a reason. Now what I need to do is add the equivalent of the money I spent into my savings account, and move forward again with a full effort to not shop! There's no use crying over spilled milk, right? All that matters now is that I've followed my guidelines for situations like this and that I'm not going to fall of the band wagon again. :)

Much love!

P.S. Guess who is heeeeere! My aunt and my little baby cousin! They came to visit from Guatemala for the next couple of weeks! I love them! This little one is a TALKER. And she says the cutest things! When we met each other for the first time she told me, "All my wildest dreams have come true now that I've met you!" Oh, and the other day she told me I looked Chinese because I have pointy eyes. She's a hoot and a half! ;)
