One Thing On My Mind

Guys, I apologize in advance, but all I'm going to talk about today is futbol. Mainly because it's pretty much the only thing on my mind right now. First off, I had already written off the World Cup and decided the remaining matches didn't much matter to me now that my team, Costa Rica, had been eliminated. Which, for those of you who missed the match, it was an edge of your seat, hard fought, well played, futbol at it's finest, game! Those 'Ticos really laid it all out on the field and fought a valiant fight, they did Central America proud. In fact, their goalie is being lauded as the best goalie of the World Cup. Couldn't be prouder. Naturally, though, I vowed to myself I wouldn't watch another match. Since yesterday was my day off, though, I of course got tugged into watching the Brazil vs Germany match. Did any of you watch it? Because OH MY HECK!!!! Most embarrassing game in the history of futbol! Honestly, what a disgrace for Brazil. FIVE goals scored within the first half, four of which were scored within 10 minutes of each other, if I remember correctly, and the final score was SEVEN to one! Those Brazilians weren't even trying. As much as it pains me to say this, someone had to have been bought out because there is just NO way that could have happened otherwise. I feel so bad for the Brazilian fans, though! I'm not kidding you when I say that there were Brazilian children in the stands crying as if they'd just watched their mother get killed. THAT'S how disappointed they were! I'm seriously seething about this. (Lame, I know.) I mean, it's one thing to be the hosting country and get eliminated but to get eliminated like THAT? That's just disgraceful. Dishonor on the goalie, dishonor on the cow, dishonor on their whole team!

Well, now that my futbol rant is over, let's get to this outfit. I'm loving the denim pencil skirt trend this summer, and I thought a fun way to do it would be to dress it up with all white. Also, ripped denim, you guys, I love it. It keeps things casual in a fun way! Anyway, that's all I have to say, really, other than, BRAZIL GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shame, shame, SHAME!

Much love! ;)

Summer Mints

Soooo, I've been a pretty crummy blogger this week. Sorry guys. I just honestly hadn't shot anything in a couple of days so I really just didn't have anything on hand to post. I'm back now, though! Oh, and eeets that time of year againnnnnn! That time of year when my brain tells me it's time for me to reread the complete Jane Austen collection, starting with my absolute fav, Pride & Prejudice! I've already started of course, and I'm completely enthralled. I swear, that book is like my third sister. I love it that much. Should I read the other books on my reading list instead of rereading Ms. Austen's stupendous novels for the umpteenth time? Probably. Maybe. Ok, yes. But guys, my soul craves, nay, neeeeds a good dose of some Pride & Prejudice romancin' at least twice a year. At least. My sister is probably rolling her eyes as she reads this. She hates that I read Pride & Prejudice so much. She'll be happy to hear, though, that I'll be moving onto my other summer favorite, The Count of Monte Cristo, as soon as I'm done with Ms. Austen's works. It's been a while since I read that baby, and I think it's time I revisit it. I'm such a grandmother. Seriously, there's no way I'm actually 22. That's probably why I fit in as a DMV employee so well. I'm actually 82. And, actually, I was thinking this the other day, I can't wait till I'm an old lady. I know that sounds as stupid as piz, but seriously, I just think it seems so grand to reach the curtain call of your life (with a spouse of course) and look back at everything you accomplished, the kids you raised, service you gave, laughter had, lessons learned and realize that you did good with the time you were given. I don't know, I can just completely picture holding the softly wrinkled hand of whoever I end up marrying and letting out a happy sigh that we made it to a nice ripe old age. I shared these thoughts with my sister and she told me I romanticize the weirdest things. She's right. I mean, who daydreams about being an old lady for crying out loud?

I've had this cute mint sweater for a bit now and I don't wear it nearly enough so I decided to pull it out again and give it another whirl. I forgot how much I actually looooove it! It's so soft and the mint color is perf! I love a good mint in the summer! I knew I wanted to wear it in a more fun way so I threw it over this playful periwinkle blue heart print dress that I've also had for agesssss. I love how playful and casual it ended up looking! Also, also, also....I can't remember. I was going to say something funny but now I can't think of what it might have been. Oh well. Happy weekend!

Much love!

50 Shades of Blue

Wanna know a book I never read? 50 Shades of Gray. I just never got pulled into the hype, and to be quite honest, and feel free to call me a prude for saying this, but I just thought it seemed kind of, well, filthy, for lack of a better word. It just wasn't me cup o' tee. Well, that, and I'm just a total snob and I tend to steer away from things that get way hyped up and popular. I know, I know, what a snob I am. I know what you're all thinking, "well, what about The Fault in Our Stars, then Allexis? Huh? Huh? You loved that!" Here is my reasoning, I've liked it since it first came out two years ago, i.e. before it was cool. Wow. Did that just come out as lame and pretentious as I think it did? Yep. I sound like a total butt head. I'm a butt head. Anyway, aside from the fact that I'm a butt head, remember how I mentioned last post that I'm not a huge fan of the summer time? Well, I just remembered another reason it's not my favoritest (yes, I just used a non-existent word. Apparently I'm also a butt head with improper grammar;) of seasons is sandals. Although, I think sandals are crazy adorable, I just can't get over the fact that it's impossible to go a day wearing sandals without coming home to find that the soles of my feet are blacker than nose hairs. I might as well be walking around barefoot. Which, actually, I'd strangely kind of prefer. :)

Now that we've established that I'm a summer hating, stuck up, butt head, let's get onto some outfit chit chat. ;) My awesome pawsome sissy snapped these photos for me while we were in Vegas. She da best! Anyway, I wore this look when we went out shopping and I loved it! I thought layering my blue mirrored aviators with my blue stone necklace and blue maxi skirt would be a super fun/simple look! Not to mention that wearing a breezy maxi was a beyond genius idea because it kept me nice and cool in the 100+ degree Vegas weather! :) Also, messy fish tail braids, my dudes! Dey da best! My only regret is that my hair is so dark you can hardly even see the braid, alls wells. Ce la vie! :)

Much love!

Cheery as a ButterCup

I know I said I'd be sharing all the emotions I was deeply feeling yesterday, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Yesterday was deeply emotional enough already and full of special experiences that I'd just rather keep it to myself if that's cool with you guys. Anyway, before I started typing I actually had this totally genius idea for a funny post and now...it's gone. I seriously haven't the slightest clue what it might have been. My memory is pretty shotty. Anyway, last weekend I got bucket loads of nerd movie time in. I watched Godzilla and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Both were swasing stella. I've been a fan of both Godzilla and X-Men since childhood and neither disappointed. Holla! If any of you loves are comic nerds, like me, go and see them! Stat! ALSO! The Rush Hour movies are up on Xfinity OnDeman right now, and I'm like full on asthma attack freaking out about it! I LOVE those movies! Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan? Match made in heaven. Hallelu. Those two can make me laugh and feel cheerier than a buttercup better than anything! ALSO, ALSO! I've been keeping up practicing Ashtanga Yoga, and I must say, it is going marvelously. Even, though, I'm no were near as proficient as I aim to be, I can completely already feel the major changes it's making both physically and spiritually. It really is such a zen and enlightening experience to embark on the Yoga journey. I'm seeing this through you guys! After only a week I can already begin to feel how it is completely a journey of finding myself and getting to know my body on a deeper level! Not to mention that it's hard as crap.

Also, I'm feeling like I need some hair change. I know I definitely want to go for the uber long bohemian look, but getting it to that length is getting a little boring. I'm thinking bangs? Maybe? I don't know, every time I think I want bangs and I go out and get bangs I regret it ten seconds later. Ce la vie, am I right? If only I had Jennifer Lawrence's hair dresser, THEN I wouldn't hesitate about getting bangs for one second. Seriously, that girl has the most perfect beyond perfect bangs that I have ever seen. The scene in the latest X-Men movie when she's got this amazing retro floppy hat on is just divine. She looks fantastic. Anyway, celeb obsessions aside, I'm seriously loving my 'ralls. I know the overalls trend isn't for everybody, but I'm seriously loving it. Mostly because, if it reminds me of being 5, then I love it. Also, I'm SOOOO glad I snapped up these mirrored sunnies back in February when they were still in stock because now I can't find a pair like them ANYWHERE! Which, is kind of saddening because I've scratched these up pretty bad and I'd love to get a replacement pair. If any of you know of a place with sunnies like these in stock please inform me! :)

Much love!
