Root Beer Floats and Butter Beer Cravings

I'm sitting here on a belly full of RootBeer Float wondering what on earth I should write about. Which, actually, I never really knew I was a Root Beer Float fan, but there were some at work at last week and I thought, "eh, what the hay? Might as well try one", and now I'm hooked! Who woulda thunk that those things where so yummy? Also, you know where I'm DYING to go? Harry. Potter. World. Yes, I'm a nerd. But seriously? I wants to go, I wants to go, I wants to go! Somebody buy me tickets! ;) Also, butter beer? I want to try that too! -It's not actually beer...is it?- Also, as you all know, I'm a HUGE fan of online shopping but I kinda hates it all at the same time, too. I'm so impatient that I literally get furious when it doesn't get to me as quickly as I want. I should work on that. ;) Also, wanna know words that I'm obsessed with lately? Codswallop, git, prat. Ya know, just all those lovely British words. All those nice ones. ;)

I love the looks of stripes and light browns. It just creates a fun relaxed color combo that's perfect for these end of summer days. Which, can you guys even believe that it's the END of SUMMER? Crazy! I still have some more very summery looks to share with you all, though, so I hope you don't mind! I mean, heavens knows that even with this rain we've been having it's still much too hot to really wear anything Fall worthy! Also, these boyfriend shorts were my saving grace this summer! I seriously wore them all the dang time! Whelp, I'm off to continue reading Harry Potter. Codswallop! Git! Prat!

Much love!

50 Shades of Blue

Wanna know a book I never read? 50 Shades of Gray. I just never got pulled into the hype, and to be quite honest, and feel free to call me a prude for saying this, but I just thought it seemed kind of, well, filthy, for lack of a better word. It just wasn't me cup o' tee. Well, that, and I'm just a total snob and I tend to steer away from things that get way hyped up and popular. I know, I know, what a snob I am. I know what you're all thinking, "well, what about The Fault in Our Stars, then Allexis? Huh? Huh? You loved that!" Here is my reasoning, I've liked it since it first came out two years ago, i.e. before it was cool. Wow. Did that just come out as lame and pretentious as I think it did? Yep. I sound like a total butt head. I'm a butt head. Anyway, aside from the fact that I'm a butt head, remember how I mentioned last post that I'm not a huge fan of the summer time? Well, I just remembered another reason it's not my favoritest (yes, I just used a non-existent word. Apparently I'm also a butt head with improper grammar;) of seasons is sandals. Although, I think sandals are crazy adorable, I just can't get over the fact that it's impossible to go a day wearing sandals without coming home to find that the soles of my feet are blacker than nose hairs. I might as well be walking around barefoot. Which, actually, I'd strangely kind of prefer. :)

Now that we've established that I'm a summer hating, stuck up, butt head, let's get onto some outfit chit chat. ;) My awesome pawsome sissy snapped these photos for me while we were in Vegas. She da best! Anyway, I wore this look when we went out shopping and I loved it! I thought layering my blue mirrored aviators with my blue stone necklace and blue maxi skirt would be a super fun/simple look! Not to mention that wearing a breezy maxi was a beyond genius idea because it kept me nice and cool in the 100+ degree Vegas weather! :) Also, messy fish tail braids, my dudes! Dey da best! My only regret is that my hair is so dark you can hardly even see the braid, alls wells. Ce la vie! :)

Much love!

Me and My 'Ralls

Ooot, ooot! Hours of messing around on the computer and playing around with different things and my girl Ro and I have finally figured out what the deal with the photos were! It is officially fixed and now you can all truly enjoy the splendor of her photographing talent!! Yippee! In other news, though, aforementioned best friend pointed out to me the other day that I'm pretty much the only one who doesn't call her Ro and calls her by her full name. This made me realize that I am such a full name kind of gal. All my life I've always called all my friends by their full name's rather than their nickname's. In middle school, it was one of my best friends, Christian. Everyone called him Chris, but not me. Nope, I called him Christian. In high school, one my best girl friends, Melissa went more by Meli than Melissa, but did I ever call her Meli? Nope. And those are just a few of my countless victims. ;) I don't know what it is, I didn't even realize I did it until the other day when it was pointed out to me, but I just have a hard time calling people by their nicknames. It feels unnatural on my tongue for some reason. Maybe it's because I don't go by any nicknames myself, and so my brain just unconsciously refuses to call anyone else by a nickname? Who knows. Maybe I'm just a butt head. That could definitely be it too. ;) I sure do like being one of the few Allexis' who actually goes by Allexis, though. It's nice.  Sets me apart from all dem otha "Lexi's", and "Alex's". Not that I mind any of those nicknames, Lexus and Lex being my favorites, but I just like my full name better. Although, I have to admit I have a soft spot for the nickname, "Lexi Lou". An old seminary teacher used to call me that and I thought it was cute.

Overalls, though, dudes. Best come back 90s trend of the year? Uh, yeah. Totally. Totes ma gotes. I flippin' love my 'ralls. They're so slouchy and cool and I don't even care that I look/feel like a 10 year old in them! You may all fully expect to see them featured a good few more times! For this look, though, I decided I wanted to style them in a more slouchy/ethereal/boho kind of way! Overalls and chunky knit cardigans are like a match made in heaven! Also, I can't get over how cool the vibe in these photos turned out. Seriously, if any of you Utah folk are in need of photos, hit up Ro Photography! She be shui (pronounced *shway*, like feng shui. Meaning cool, chill, awesome;). She be way shui. Anyway, I know that was super boring, and I promised you all it'd be a lot more entertaining/funny, but you know what? Maybe I'm just a boring person!!! ;) Just kidding, I've just been like on a weird writer's block, I-Literally-Have-Nothing-To-Say-Anymore-About-Anything-Unless-You're-Going-To-Feed-Me-Icecream, kick. I don't know what it is. I've lost my spunk you guys. I've just lost it. Poof. There it goes. It's gone. I'm not spunky anymore. ;) Anyway, I'm done. I'll leave you all to your days.

Much love!

Black Balloon

Eeet ees Monday my dears. Bleh. That is anything but a boom-shack-a-lacka. In fact, it's more of poop-munch-a-sucka. Yeah, I just made that up. And, yeah, it makes absolutely no sense. Oh wellsies. How were all of your Easter's? Mine was pretty dang lovely. I had a nice old time spending time with my fam and celebrating Chirsts birth, life, and atoning sacrifice! No bunnies or eggs por moi. :) In other news, it's interesting how the complete disarray of my backyard can actually end up looking preeetty interesting and cool for photos! The men in my fam are slacking, but when it comes to the backyard, I don't mind one bit. ;) I feel like I've been completely lacking in the entertaining writing juices lately, and it sucks. Well, for you guys, anyway. I have no problem with being boring. ;) One thing I'm certainly not lacking in is emoticon usage. I wink waaaaaay more than is strictly healthy in this here blog. ;) See? I just winked again. Mostly to convey that, yes, I know that grammar was awful and I did it intentionally to be stupidly humorous. Life without emotis just isn't worth living you guys!! ;) I'm incurable. Anyway, as the date for the Goo Goo Dolls concert draws closer and closer (debatably) I'm starting to get more and more excited! Eeep!! I've been obsessing over "Black Balloon" lately. One of my favs of theirs. Although, "Name", will always be my ABSOLUTE favorite song of theirs and one of my top three favorite songs of all time. It's just one of those songs that never gets tiring, never fails to make my heart go pitter pat, and that I've been in love with for the better part of 17 years (since I was 5). It's ma jam. Even, though, my sister claims that slow songs cannot accurately be referred to as "jams". She always reminds me of this when a slow song that I fancy comes on and I yell, "Dis ma jam!".

I know you're all probably ready to shoot this hat by now, but I just looooooove it! So...#sorrynotsorry! ;) Just kidding, I actually loath that hashtag with all the force behind my beating heart. Things just got intense in here guys, ohhhhhh! ;) Anyway, I'm just going to come out and say this. I've sucked at my shopping challenge this month. Majorly. I've shopped a TON. I feel just terrible. Terrible. Really, though, I'm getting that icky "I spend too much time caring about clothing" feeling again so I am absolutely, positutely, 100% resolved to sticking to my challenge in May. The reason I'm fessing up now is because I got this top at Old Navy a couple of days ago, and even, though, I feel bad about breaking my challenge, I'm absolutely loving the shirt. I sized WAY up when I bought it because I wanted it to have that "extra slouchy" look, and for the most part I think it was a good decision. I love the slouch. The only thing is that my torso is entirely WAY too short for it. A little tucking in action, though, and it's allll good. Anyway, that's all. BOOSH!

Much love!

Get Goo Goo over this playlist! Just a few of my favs!

If Wizards Had Internet

Work has been a doozy as of late. First, that "honeymoon" stage that all new jobs have has begun to wear off, rather quickly. Which, to be honest, was to be expected. I mean, no one has ever equated "DMV" with "fun". I have now begun trying to entertain myself by attempting to spot PB's (potential babes). They are rare. Really, rare. As in, I haven't spotted one since my third day, rare. Tis a sad thing. Ya know, one would think that there would be more PB's in need of renewing their vehicle registration, but no. Tis a boring job, that of a DMV worker. Although, this morning the system crashed, and admittedly I kind of loved the chaos of it. Not only did it make it a little more entertaining but it also gave me a good couple of hours in which I got to just sit and wait for the system to come back up. In other news, did you guys know Kristen Bell sang all of her own parts in Frozen? Melt your heart, right? I mean, could she get any more loveable? First Veronica Mars, then the whole sloth thing, and now she sings all of her own parts? She's my fave. Check her out singing it live...

I know this look is way more Summer than it is Spring, but hey, if the weather fits, am I right? Also, I know I've worn this hat waaaay too much already, but I just can't see myself not wearing it at least once a week. It's just that cute/fun. Also, when it comes to summer, it really is all about the accessories. Bright colorful ones at that too! Well, that's all I have for you all today. I know, I'm boring. I've just been feeling blah-y lately, which if you read yesterday's post you already knew. Also, for all my fellow Harry Potter nerds out there, check it!
Much love!

P.S. Credit to finding the Kristen Bell vid and texting me the Harry Potter comic go to my sister (hi Allison, I knew you'd get all danka schoen on me if I didn't give you your deserved street cred;)!

Rebound

I'm totally and completely having "Being Human" withdrawals. I misssssss it. Boohoohoo. I need a rebound show. Stat. In fact, I've been on the hunt for one...with little success. A TV series ending is completely and one hundred percent like going through a break up. It's all you think about, you keep replaying the ending in your head over and over again, you miss it, wish it was still on, and are constantly looking for something to replace it. Yep. I completely just compared TV to a real life relationship. "Nerd, nerd, nerd." she says as she as kind of wants to delete the last few sentences. ;) Oh well. Give me palette cleanser rebound show suggestions guys! I'm testing out Heroes, I vaguely remember it being all the rage when I was in middle school, and Scandal right now. Neither one is sticking, but hey, maybe in a few episodes. I guess there's that saying, "never judge a show by it's first episode." Well, I'm done over sharing my couch potato TV addict tendencies.

I'm so in love with this hat you guys. So in love. It's THE perfect Spring/Summer accessory. Also, remember how I mentioned that I'm mildly obsessed with dual toned looks lately? Whelp, here's further proof. ;) I mean, what's more fun than mixing neutrals? Nothin' I tell ya. Especially since there was a time when I was convinced that brown and black didn't match. A pfft. A pfft. I was cray. Way cray. Black and brown are a combo made in heaven! I've also really been drawn to the simple looks lately too. Basic pieces like tees and skinny jeans with spunkier pieces like this wide brimmed fedora and metallic sandals, which, coincidentally, I've been wearing almost everyday. Seriously, these metallic sandals where like, the best birthday present ever! I am fully appreciating this warmer weather in them! :)

Much love!
